Bargain: Freebie and a New Release

Author MaryJo Dawson has a new release out in her Sally Nimitz mystery series! Who Was Nathan Spencer? just released!

And if you haven’t started this series, there’s good news–the first is free. I brought this along on my kindle, but haven’t had a chance to read yet!

The Death of Amelia Marsh

Sally Nimitz is a widow living in a small mid-western town with a satisfying ordinary life. She is invited to visit her neighbor one afternoon, an elderly lady with a charming English accent. When she arrives for the appointment, the lady is lying on her kitchen floor, dead from a blow to the head. Sally finds herself drawn into the puzzling crime; why would anyone want to kill Mrs. Marsh? As she looks for answers, Sally discovers a talent dormant within herself for solving such a puzzle. With the aid of two friends this budding female sleuth learns Amelia Marsh’s life was a mystery in itself, and there are secrets hidden in her past.

And the latest release–I’m not sure I’d lend him the money…

Who Was Nathan Spencer? the seventh book in the series is now out and on sale for a great price of $2.99.

Miss Anne Carey’s affluent brother Ira consults her for advice. Should he loan his son Craig thirty thousand dollars although he cannot say what the money is for? This isn’t like Craig at all. Decidedly odd, agree Anne’s friends Sally Nimitz and George Thomas.

Craig gets the loan, and what began as puzzling quickly turns deadly. The money disappears, Craig is fighting for his life, and the name of an elusive older brother crops up in connection with the whole mess. Sally and George step up to help their dear friend’s family find answers. Who was Nathan Spencer? Was he responsible for robbery, kidnapping, and murder?

Bargains: Mysteries

This one sounds rather thriller paced. What She Knew

In a heartbeat, everything changes…

Rachel Jenner is walking in a Bristol park with her eight-year-old son, Ben, when he asks if he can run ahead. It’s an ordinary request on an ordinary Sunday afternoon, and Rachel has no reason to worry—until Ben vanishes.

Police are called, search parties go out, and Rachel, already insecure after her recent divorce, feels herself coming undone. As hours and then days pass without a sign of Ben, everyone who knew him is called into question, from Rachel’s newly married ex-husband to her mother-of-the-year sister. Inevitably, media attention focuses on Rachel too, and the public’s attitude toward her begins to shift from sympathy to suspicion.

As she desperately pieces together the threadbare clues, Rachel realizes that nothing is quite as she imagined it to be, not even her own judgment. And the greatest dangers may lie not in the anonymous strangers of every parent’s nightmares, but behind the familiar smiles of those she trusts the most.

Where is Ben? The clock is ticking…

Fatal Fiction – an interesting cozy. Sounds like this could have a little more depth than usual.

Charli agrees to sell off the family bookstore, housed in a barn, and settle her estranged dad’s debt—if only so she can ride into the sunset and cut ties with Hazel Rock forever. But the trip is extended when Charli finds her realtor dead in the store, strangled by a bedazzled belt. And with daddy suspiciously MIA, father and daughter are topping the most wanted list . . .

Forging an unlikely alliance with the town beauty queen, the old beau who tore her family apart, and one ugly armadillo, Charli’s intent on protecting what’s left of her past . . . and wrangling the lone killer who’s fixin’ to destroy her future . . .

The back to school deals have started at Amazon. Who knew that backpacks could cost as much as $221?? (free shipping with Prime or 25 dollars).

Not to be outdone, Walmart has their school deals as well. (Free shipping at 35).

Bargain: Cozy Mystery

Ghost of a Chance This one looks like a fabulous read and I love the cover! It’s also only 99 cents today!

Maggie Mulgrew runs The Ash Leaf, an antique shop in the quaint village of Holmestead, England ~ which has nothing to do with Sherlock, thank you very much. She sells her goods to disappointed tourists, and locals who appreciate her eclectic taste.

Professor Pembroke Martin is hunting down an artifact that had been stolen by a former assistant ~ a hand-blown apothecary jar that is the center of an old ghost story. His search leads him to Holmestead, and a stubborn, fascinating American who has acquired the box that once contained the rare jar.

When the missing jar turns up, clutched in the hand of the very dead local historian, Martin becomes the prime suspect. With his future on the line, Martin turns to Maggie for help, and they join forces to find the real killer.

New Release: Barbara Marr #6

Dial Marr for Murder – Okay, here it is! I know you’ve been waiting! I’ve read this one and it’s quite hilarious, one scene in particular. I didn’t know whether to groan or laugh. 🙂 I settled for both. I’m flexible that way!

A flu epidemic seems to have wiped out the volunteer force at the Rustic Woods Nature Center. Never fear, Barbara Marr to the rescue! When Nature Center activities director Bunny Bergen finds herself without a crew to decorate for the annual Halloween Nature Walk, she dials Barb for assistance. Always the helpful friend, Barb rises to the occasion. Of course, this is Barbara Marr we are talking about. Five minutes into her task, she discovers a dead body by the frog pond. Five hours later, she’s a trending hash tag. How does Barb do it?

Barbara Marr is in the July New Releases Extravaganza! Woohoo! Glad she could join us!

Kobo Link (You’ll be able to use the coupon that I listed on the extravaganza page to get half off at Kobo). It’s on sale for the release, but will go to $3.99 soon.

B&N has it too!

Out of Print Now on Kindle: Lorna Bartlett

For a full list of authors I’ve found who now have backlist on Kindle see here.

Someone I was chatting with was waiting for these. Unfortunately, I cannot remember who it was. Maybe they follow my blog!

Lorna Bartlett has gone Kindle!

Cold Case (A Jeff Resnick Mystery) This one looks right up my alley and at 99 cents??? Who can resist?

This next one appears to be the first in a series. She sometimes writes under L.L. Bartlett so I had to search on both “L.L” and “Lorna” to find all her titles:

Murder on The Mind (A Jeff Resnick Mystery) This one looks a little less cozy and more mystery. Sounds very good and is also reasonably priced (currently $2.99).

Next we have what appears to be a seasonal mystery entry for the series, but it’s only 99 cents: Bah! Humbug (The Jeff Resnick Mysteries)

Out-of-Print Now on Kindle

More backlist books on Kindle! (For a full list of authors I’ve found who now have backlist on Kindle see here.)

Donna Ball actually has several she brought back, but her Raine Stockton Dog Mysteries are her most popular. The first two were out of print, but are now on Kindle.

A little bit of cozy suspense:

Smoky Mountain Tracks (Raine Stockton Dog Mysteries)

The second in the series: Rapid Fire (Raine Stockton Dog Mystery)

There are more books in the series, but since those aren’t out of print, the Kindle editions are priced in the 6 and 7 dollar range. Still, the first two are a reasonable $2.99 and that ought to be enough to tell if you’ll like the series!

She has several romance books she has republished in Kindle as well.
