Turtles and Tomatoes
The turtle got a rather impromptu bath yesterday…I didn’t know he was under those plants, I swear! He came barreling out of there, mad as a hornet…
Later in the day, he must have found his good humor because he found some dogfood that the grackles had dropped (grackles are a bird–they steal dogfood from neighborhood bins and then show up and eat in our yard because we have a birdbath.)
Here he is–happy as…a turtle!
As for those tomatoes I told you about–I’m going to upload a picture very soon so that you can check out the currant tomatoes! Working…
Here they are–are these not the tiniest tomatoes you’ve ever seen??? The large, normal-sized one is an “Opener.” I picked it a bit early because I didn’t want the birds or the turtle to get any ideas!

Awesome turtle pic!
By the way, no blueberry plants or grape tomatoes in the stores (had a feeling it was too late.) But I jotted down the website info you posted, and I will do some reading up on good performers for our area.
The apples on the Red Delicious are starting to get big, but my Granny Smiths are falling off the tree and they’re no more than an inch in diameter. I’ll have to do a little research on what may be causing that.

We had an apple orchard growing up, but I don’t remember that problem (I was pretty young and oblivious). When fruit falls early from tomatoes and chiles, it’s usually a fertilizer problem. You might give it a shot of good fertilizer once a week for three or four weeks. It won’t hurt it even if it doesn’t help it!!! Use one that has a broad spectrum of vitamin/minerals either specifically for fruits trees or get the fertilizer for tomatoes–it has lots of good stuff in it. You could fertlize once with something like that and then put down one of those slow release fertilizers although I have never thought those worked as well (however, I never have fertilzed a tree…)
I’m bummed for you on the tomato plants and the blueberries. I think I just ate my last blueberry this morning. I’m bummed about that too. I could eat a LOT more of them.
