The July 99 Cents Fantasy Sale

Most prices have now changed so I’m posting this early! SHOPPING TIME!!!

DragonswendalCover There’s another big sale of fantasy and sci/fi going on today and tomorrow (July 1 and 2). At first, this one looked pretty heavy on the sci-fi front to me, but after scrolling down, I did find some books that looked to be my thing!

Rune Services Looks like a fun one!

Heiress of Healing looked good and I usually like books with healers.

Magick Reborn — great cover too!

The Artist’s Inheritance Sounds like a good ghost story!

The Dark of Light – Space Opera that comes recommended!

  1. I’ve dipped into Coffee and Ghosts and so far it’s delightful!

Also sampled Rune Services (mentioned in the post) and the concept is really, really cool, but I’m not sure the editing will stand up to the story. I ran into odd use of words and some comma problems.

  2. Update: I’ve finished Coffee and Ghosts–it’s not as cozy as I initially assumed. There are some chapters that have some pretty evil haunting going on. It’s good, but a tad more melancholy and…I guess the writing style is a bit more “sterile” than I expected. The “sterile” writing style keeps it from being TOO scary (it’s a ghost story. Duh.) But there’s a darkness to it that bugged me in spots and because of that I wouldn’t label it cozy (the first half is. Then it goes more UF than cozy). I really liked some of the characters, but the main guy just never got rounded out enough for me. He was chivalrous, but flat. The story itself was very compelling, however. I had to keep reading to the end.

  3. Next up, I’m sampling As the Crow Flies — a thief book!
