Turkey Stuffing
WOooWooo! Almost time to eat. Here’s one of my favorite parts of the meal:
This stuffing can be made in the oven, or stuffed into a chicken or turkey. It will be more moist and have more flavor if stuffed into a bird!
Cube approximately 24 slices of bread (I like honey wheat!)
melt 1/2 cup of margarine in a deep pan
Cook the following in the margarine:
3/4 cup diced onion
1 1/2 cup diced celery
When the vegetables are tender add:
1 1/2 tsp sage
2 tsp thyme
pepper to taste
Add the breadcrumbs to the margarine and vegetables
Allow the margarine/bread mixuture to cool down for fifteen minutes. Add 1 egg and stir well. If you are baking in an oven (rather than inside a turkey or chicken), drizzle the stuffing with 1/4 cup chicken broth and bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until the top begins to brown.
If you are stuffing a bird, do not add any chicken broth. The broth will incorporate naturally while the chicken/turkey cooks. Stuff your bird and cook according to the bird directions!

Yum! I was hoping you’d post a recipe or 2.
I’m making Butternut Squash Risotto – it’s all I have to make (that and bring the non-alky drinks).
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I think you should send me that recipe! Sounds like something I need to make when I have fresh squash. We do the whole turkey shebang so if you need any recipes, just let me know. I’ve probably made it at some time or other. I’d make even more of my favorites, but I can’t eat them all!
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Really, super easy (it’s a Rachel Ray recipe). Pretty tasty, though.
I’ll hit you up for recipes closer to Christmas – we’re having ginormous T-Day, tiny Christmas, so tomorrow I don’t have to contribute much. Christmas is a different story.

Has anyone ever tried to make risotto with orzo?

Someone I used to work with has. I think the cooking time is less, but no reason it can’t work.

If you try it, let me know how it works.
Gearing up to go do battle in the kitchen…

I love stuffing, and luckily, I don’t have to cook tomorrow but will still be enjoying turkey and stuffing. Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t get too stuffed
