Junior and the Mint

You’ll recall that a while back I bought a Mint Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner. It took a while for me to figure the ins and outs, but in short–I love the thing. It’s Most Excellent! I had trouble using a wet cloth on it at first, because the wheels would slip or the rag would drag. Turns out, I wasn’t tucking the rag tightly enough and pushing in the rubber teeth to keep it secured. I also had it too wet a few times. A damp rag, tucked in securely does a GREAT job of picking up cat hair, dust and debris.

Anyway, I use the thing on the tile a few times a week. I love it–Junior hates it. Well, he tolerates it. He doesn’t run from it, but it annoys him. Today, he was sitting in *his* spot on the tile. The little sweeper was doing back and forth rows as it always does. Being a cat, Junior adopted an attitude. “I do not see the annoyance.” He pretended to ignore it. It moves slow. He could outrun it at any time. Except…He got distracted. The little sweeper got closer and closer…

You know the way cats can spring straight up in the air? Yup, that’s what Junior did when the sweeper hit his foot. Only he came down in the same spot–which put him on top of the sweeper. Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Another leap straight up with a twist and he landed on the living room carpet, completely insulted.

Hilarious. He sulked for several minutes before he went back to his spot on the floor.

  1. I can totally see that! Normal cat disdain for anything not cat like or interesting enough to chase. Normal startled outrage for something messing with a cat’s beauty rest. Normal startled outrage for the thing having the audacity to be in the same spot the cat lands in. Normal disdain for thing over there that has no interest for the cat. Hmph. Shall stalk away and show that thing how much I don’t care. Hmph!

  3. Do you know how long it took me to get Max to stop attacking the vacuum or cordless sweeper? No way could I have that thing roaming the house “unsupervised” although it does sound like a good idea because I have a lot of tiled flooring.

  4. @Trina–Hilarious!

It’s pretty handy to have around though. Max would probably upend it and eat half of it before you could save it!
