Hanging
While I was working hard in the garden this morning, I looked over to find Junior hanging–hanging on my drapes! All four of his little paws had their claws attached to my tomato drape and he just hung there, waiting to see how long the drapes would hold.
As punishment, I made him sit still for a brushing. He’s been shedding like crazy in this heat. He tried to eat the brush.

Pictured the scene in my mind, and had to laugh! Of course, I’m sure it didn’t strike you as being at all funny at the time.
I’m “babysitting” my niece’s 8-month old pup for a few weeks, and I caught her eating one of my flip flops. She’s a pup, but she’s an unusually good one and until then, had not messed with anything that wasn’t a dog toy. Even my niece says she’s never done anything like that before.
I suspect it’s because the flip flop had that straw-like lining (like a tatami mat)and this dog LOVES to eat grass. When we go on our morning walk, she treats the world like a giant salad bowl. Too funny. Of course, not so much the chewed up flip flop.

Oh, he’s a cat. You can’t get too angry at him for being what he is. He took one look at me, eyes went wide, ears back, and claws as extended as possible as though he were clinging for dear life…and life became an issue when I gave him that “Junior!” yell…
For the most part, I have to admit, he is the most obedient cat we’ve ever had. All of our ferals have been better behaved than the two domestic ones we used to have. Mom Scamp taught Junior manners–he plays without his claws (very seldom forgets) and they both recognize scolding. Mom Scamp gets very upset when she gets yelled at. Junior gives you the eyeball and runs off. He has complete faith that we will scold him, but not hurt him.

I know what you mean. I also gave Nalah a very “stern scolding” and I must say she looked thoroughly abashed. She laid very quietly near me until I finished getting dressed. Then I just had to give her a little kiss and hug because she looked so darn pitiful. She’s such a sweetie.

They control us, those pets. They just totally own us.

Been fascinating reading about Scamp and Junior. So much trouble for one little feral cat!
Hope when I get a cat it won’t have as many complications

I promise–most cats are NOT this much trouble. And several of Junior’s problems were food related. Scamp has been no trouble at all. Of course she still won’t let us pet her, but we’re working on that. Any day now she will fall in love with us…
Thanks for stopping by Enchante!
