Escape!
Last night, Scamper decided to stay inside with us for a while. Then she changed her mind and went out. Then back in. It was after midnight when she came back in, but instead of settling down, she was roaming around. I usually wait until she goes under the couch for a nap before shutting the door, but I was too tired to wait until she needed a nap. I closed the back door very *quietly* so that she wouldn’t be startled. I did it in the dark while she was over by the front door, just hanging out. Maaaybe she wouldn’t even notice.
Back to bed. Almost asleep. I heard scratching at the back door. Sigh. I had hoped she would settle down. I didn’t want her to feel trapped so I got up to let her out. I went to the living room to find…she had helped herself. Apparently I hadn’t shut the door very tight and Miss Scamper dug underneath, grabbed the bottom edge and opened the door!
Did she go out? No, she sat there, looking *very* pleased with herself, blocking the door and looking out the cat door. Then she grabbed the rug and scrunched it up into a messy ball.
I went back to bed.
She’s still looking mighty pleased with herself this morning.
