Under Witch Aura

(Moon Shadow Series)

Cauterwauling

Junior prefers to spend most of the night outside these days, especially near a full moon when it’s nice and bright outside. Nighttime is the only time it’s under 90 degrees in Texas at this time of year. He came in at about 11:30 and then showed up on the bed and stared at me about 3 a.m. this morning. He’s not demanding really, just persistent. He does put his paw out and rests it on my leg if I don’t “get” that he wants out.

FINE.

I let him out. Back to bed. Almost asleep.

A few minutes later–cat fight. I marched out there…nothing. No cats. Quiet. Back to bed. 10 minutes later, cat fight. I marched out there…the cats were in the yard next door, no Junior running for help. Told them to pipe down. Quietly of course–it was the middle of the night. Back to bed. At 4, cat fight. Out again. There he was all fluffed up staring at the escape route to the front yard. Picked his Mr. Fluffy butt up and plopped it inside, closed door. Got some sleep.

Cats. Need I say more???

  1. They can certainly be pests can’t they? My FIL says that during the day he spends half of it being doorman to our black cat. Tio woke me up early again this morning yelling outside my bedroom door (keep it closed at night because of the dogs) telling me that he was STARVING and needed to EAT NOW. I was able to tune it out a bit but by then I was awake and had to get up. Cats!

  2. Our cats have dry food at all times, so this isn’t a problem (I realize that with dogs, they would eat every spec of catfood in an instant). Cats are quite demanding.

We used to play doorman a lot, but we put in a storm door–with a cat door. One of the best purchases we ever made. You should have seen the two feral cats learning to use a cat door. HILARIOUS. And every time we changed it (it was opaque and now it is see-through) they acted like it was a whole new story…
