Cats
Cats have such an incredible ability to jump, almost straight up. It’s something to see when they bunch those muscles and leap gracefully skyward, sometimes twisting and turning before coming back down. It’s like a fabulous piece of artwork and always wows me. Exceeeeeept when that leap involves hopping up onto the tall counter where they do not belong and never used to go. Junior, get down this instant!!!!!

Why do dogs start eating off the table the minute you leave the room? …. Because they know you’d be mad at them if they did it while you were in the room.

Oh yes, they are certainly majestic leapers. I’ll never forget when Monster, who is now nearly 20 years old, leaped over the couch from the front, never touching the upholstery. What got him to do it? Turkey. He’s always been a big fan of turkey (and when he was younger, any bird within range…)

Those cats aren’t dumb by any stretch. Little Twiggy (rest her soul) never, ever went on the kitchen table. Unless I was outside mowing the lawn — when she’d sit on the table and watch me through the back patio door. Stinker.
